TITLE: This Magic I Can Understand
FANDOM: Catweazle
PAIRING: Carrot/Catweazle. Sort of.
SUMMARY: Horizons and lonely hopes
RATING: G
NOTES: Must... kill... bunnies... *gaaaaah* Seriously, though, folks...
We can all agree that Carrot is *legally* a minor, given that the 1967
Sexual Offences Act was still in force at the time. *Technically*, and
for my purposes... well, sod canonical age; I can't find one. If it
helps, Robin Davies turned 16 in 1970. I tend to assume that boys
that age know their own minds.
Title taken from the episode The Curse of Rapkyn

The old man's hands are warm, sandy callouses rough against Carrot's skin. Another
lunatic spell, another wasted night watching the moon rise from the rusting haven
of Castle Saburac. He turns as bid, asks nothing about the eerie figures covering
his body, or the lulling, meaningless croon that twists and flares with the
shadows from the sacred fire. The urge to honesty, to intimate demand, is
overwhelming; bested at length and bitterly. Carrot has few friends. To risk this
risks everything.

For now, the fierce joy in Catweazle's eyes, the sheer power of his self-belief,
must be magic enough.
