Fitz was gone. Fitz was dead. Fitz was late, again.

The Doctor, tired beyond his years, leaned back against the TARDIS and watched dew
form on the dirty Clapham cobbles. Air tears, City tears, as beautiful as the
gentle humming of his oldest friend as she tried to make things better. To make up
for the fear, the howling and curious certainty that one day it would be true.

The corner unturned, the smile gone.

He had lived a thousand years with this fear; a thousand without understanding.

Thank you, Sabbath, he whispered into the mist, and smiled.
